The Durham Hythe Estate

Idyllic waterfront estate with spacious grounds, stunning views, and luxury amenities in Maryland. Perfect for retreats and gatherings.

The Durham-Hythe Estate

Originally built in 1942 on the scenic grounds of a former corn farm, Durham-Hythe Estate is a remarkable haven that reflects the beauty and history of Maryland’s Eastern Shore. The first owners, captivated by the area’s stunning natural beauty and tranquil surroundings, acquired a portion of the farmer’s land to create their dream home. Over 70 years later, the estate now rests within 7.5 acres of lush indigenous flora and fauna, showcasing an impressive 750-foot shoreline, a 75-foot private dock complete with a boat lift, and inviting sun decks that beckon guests to unwind and take in the breathtaking scenery.

Amazing place! The house was beautiful, the kitchen was awesome, but the outdoors is where is at! The pool was great, the trees and views were amazing, kayaking was pretty relaxing, and you can star gaze at night! The family enjoyed this trip a lot and we hope to come back again!

Very nice place on Eastern Shore. We had two families of 4, 2 grandparents, and an aunt stay and all of us were very comfortable with the accommodations. We cooked all but one meal for four days stay at the house with no issue = well stocked with tools, equipment, and servery. Multiple beverage fridges and two full size fridge/freezers. Ping pong and pool in the garage were a hit. Dock was great for crabing, fishing, and kayaking launch area. Star-gazed with the fire pit at night. Refreshing pool during the day amidst games of corn hole and badminton. Wisteria covered back porch was wonderful with coffee in the morning. Thank you Matt for being a wonderful and responsive host!

Matt's an amazing host of a truly spectacular property. The photos don't do the house and location justice, and every detail from the dining room to the outdoor fire pit was carefully curated. The property is expansive and feels private. We enjoyed the pool, played lawn games and spent time on the water front. There are great restaurants nearby, but it was difficult to pull ourselves away from the house. Matt's also a communicative and responsive host, we're grateful for him sharing this special home with our group.

We had a fantastic stay at Matt's place, it was very peaceful, very relaxing and he made us feel welcome. There were lot's of nice touches with the music, flowers and cake that made it feel special for my birthday - great host! The property has everything you need and with a stunning location you can admire the views and not need to leave the grounds. It is close to St. Michaels with fabulous places to eat (Ruse is worth checking out!) and many shops. It will remain one of our most memorable places and we hope we can return soon.

This is a really special home! The beautifully appointed house is situated on a quiet road surrounded by incredible views on all sides. Get ready for spectacular sunrises and sunsets. Matt and Gerry have thought of every detail and our group of eight friends enjoyed the fire pit, sunroom and meals at a dining table overlooking dolphins, geese and foxes. The kitchen is fully stocked with any tool that you would need to cook and the bedrooms are spacious with very comfortable mattresses and pillows. We found some great restaurants and fun shops in St Michaels and Easton. But the house had so much to offer that we didn't want to leave.
